NYC Hair Color Follow up Posted by Carinka

On April 18, 2007, I had my first appointment at the Salon Ishi (70e 55th Street).  My apprival time was 5:30pm, however once i got there, the kind management told me that I would have to wait until 6pm till the hair colorist would start on my hair.  When it was 6, i was attended to be a young woman by the name of Heather.  She was very nice and kind.  She had asked me what color i wanted her to dye my hair, and i told her to give it a tint of purple, she then recommended highlights.  I agreed, even though i have never had any highlights put in my hair.  Too make a long story short, i got a half a head of highlights for $15.  The best deal ever for highlights and its in NYC!

NYC Hair Color Posted by Carinka

I was recently shown an article in “In Style” magazine about the best hair color services in NYC.  They are pros and talented colorists-in-training at NYC salons that offer rich hues and highlights at low prices.

I am originally a brunette. When i turned 14, i wanted my hair to go lighter, so i put Sun-In my hair (BAD MISTAKE).  About 3 months later my hair was orange :/  Every year since then i was dying my hair dark brown, almost chocolate brown. About a year or so ago, I decided to go black. I think i picked a good choice since it brings out my baby blue eyes.hehe.  But now i think it is time for an upgrade.  I have never had highlights or low-lights or any professional hair colorist dye my hair, so i think it may be nice to go get it done.

Here are some of the NYC Salons that take part in this low budget hair coloring:

Rita hazan salon/ 720 Fifth Avenue.   PRICE $40-$60

Salon ishi/ 70 e. 55th Street.    PRICE $15

louis Licari/ 693 fifth Avenue.   PRICE $40

I hope all you girls that are looking for some advice on hair coloring and aren’t willing to spend $100’s, should definatley give this a try, worst case, you won’t like it and will go to the nearest pharmacy and dye it all back.  GOOD LUCK!

Cotton Candy Martini <3 Posted by Carinka

So you think you like Martini’s? Not until you have tried this one.

My experience was one that I will never forget and sure enough my boyfriend will NEVER forget either. For my best friend Jackie’s Birthday, we hit up the Crown Plaza Hotel located in Times Square, heart of the fabulous NYC. Jackie and I ordered several Martini’s and various fruity cocktails since early in the night. The bartender, a very nice man, surprised me with a Cotton Candy Martini.

History= I LOVE COTTON CANDY

This drink was more then my taste buds could possible handle. It was so divine that it actually made me dream of Martini’s. I hope I can share this amazing treat with you :)

Cotton Candy Martini

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of freezing Smirnoff vodka
  • 1 tablespoon of cola
  • 2 teaspoon of Grenadine
  • A chunk of cotton candy
  • 2 small chunks of cotton candy for garnish
  • Vanilla Candy sugar for the rim

The mix

  • Pour all of your ingredients into a martini shaker 1/2 of cracked ice
  • Drop in the chunk of cotton candy…it will dissolve
  • Lid the shaker and shake like mad for a full minute
  • Strain your delicious martini into 2 chilly, sugar rimmed martini glasses
  • Float a piece of cotton on each cocktail

Please be careful. This Martini is DEADLY!

FIOS CABLE Posted by Carinka

its finally here. Verizons men are working at my house installing what is said to be the fastest cable TV. I have not had cable for about 4 years now (yea i know what your thinking, how can you NOT watch TV?) but that is just it, TV takes over peoples lives and being a couch potato and gainign 15 lbs. is not exactly what i want/need.

Last night, i barely slept, kept tossing and turning and totally forgetting that Verizon was coming this morning sometime between 8 and 11. I really hoped that they would come at 8, sicne i have to be at work at 930 or so. And figuring when Verizon gives a time period that they would come, it would probably be later then on time.

I woke up a few minutes before 8 and told my brother, Philip, to grab me a stickie and sharpie. I wrote “Verizon, please knock or call, bell doesnt work,” then handed the note to my brother and told him to go stick it on the outside front door. This way i could get some extra sleep and at least get a heads up on when the men would be here. As Philip opened the door the Verizon guy was standing right there. I yelled from my room that i will be down in a second. As i quickly got out of bed, threw on some sweats, i hurried downstairs to let the man in. I thought i might have a mild case of ESP, prediciting he was there. I showed him where the two TVs where and that those would be the ones that he would be installing FIOS TV on. He then said that since we have a HD Plasma TV in the family room, it would be better that we got the HD Cable box vs. the standard box. I figured “well duh!” i then called my dad and made sure that this was ok. Sure enough it was, however there would be an extra cost of $5, “no big deal” he said. Then he told me to make sure that he also installed the HD box upstairs in his room. This came to my surprise because my father has an old TV, probably one from the 1970s if not older. go figure. surprisingly my dad told me he is going to be getting a new HD TV in his room and that the HD Cable box would be needed. I thought “well thats cool, my dad doesnt like to tell me things.” (Further, in my house, we only have 2 TVs. Growing up having TV in our bedrooms was unheard of. It would keep my brothers and myself up all night watching the tube and not studying, causing bad grades. My parents were very strict on grades and spending too much time watching some of the pointless and unintellectual things on TV.)

It has been over 2 hours and Verizon is still here. I know it is worth the wait but i need to go to work! Who would have thought i want to go to work this badly on a Friday but let me tell you why… TODAY IS PAYDAY!

More to come on the verdict of the new Verizon FIOS Cable TV.

My First Post Posted by Carinka

So here it is. I am now a blogger. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, Jon, I will now be able to share my thoughts. As I told Jon, “it takes thought” to write a post.  Anywho, I decided to get my own website after constantly hearing about how fun it is and how there are millions of bloggers around the world.  I hope this isn’t just a phase and that it becomes a habit.

Watch out… CARINKA is here!
